With the friendly cooperation of MPI, we have successfully brought about corrections to all large-engine motor scooter classifications which were mistakenly classified as touring motorcycles.
The corrections should be available in MPI's systems (and to your insurance broker) by the end of the month of May.
This includes corrections to:
Suzuki Burgman (all models)
Piaggio X9 (all models)
Scarabeo 500
Honda Big Ruckus
This means that the effective rates for these bikes will be significantly reduced. The change is retro-active to March 1, 2007.
If you have renewed your insurance since March 1, 2007, I recommend that you contact your insurance broker to ensure the necessary adjustments are applied. If you have not yet renewed, the rate change will be effective when you next renew.
I would like to thank all members who provided me with the necessary information and MPI for their assistance with this matter.
Please contact me if you have any questions. _________________ Claudio Sousa, Club President

I'm not affected by this change (I ride 200cc), but I am impressed with the work you and others are doing to make MPI more fair for riders. Well done man! _________________ Vespa Grantourismo 200
